I recently discovered an AI-based image generator by Midjourney. As a relatively artistic person, I quickly became interested in exploring this tool's capabilities. What initally sparked my interest was the art I saw posted by Generative AI on LinkedIn. The page shares images that users had created in Midjourney including a chonky Chipmunk and "what-if" scenario if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart had a family.
According to its website, Midjourney is "an independent research lab exploring new mediums of thought and expanding the imaginative powers of the human species." You can use the AI Midjourney Bot by joining the community on Discord and purchasing a subscription. Once you add the server, you can use the "/image" command to start generating images from simple sentences. It takes about a minute for the Midjourney bot to produce four different options. According to its website, Midjourney uses "powerful Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) to interpret and process each prompt."
The AI can create variations of images as well which involves generating new image grids similar to the initial style you selected. This is useful if you like certain image components but would like to make slight modifications or see what other options the tool can provide.
Check out the community showcase on Midjourney to see the AI images other users have created. It's incredible to see the beautiful images that have been created using simple sentences. I am excited to have come across this tool as I can see myself using it for projects in the near future.
