I thought it would be interesting to redesign a company's logo using AI. The logo I chose to redesign is from StormTrap, a stormwater management company I have worked for over the last two years. StormTrap provides solutions for managing runoff, protecting waterways, and improving property usage. This involves detention, infiltration, water quality, and other treatment solutions provided by a wide range of product offerings. My interest and understanding of the company is what made me interested in redesigning its logo specifically.
Currently, StormTrap's logo is a grey box which represents the company's modular concrete stormwater management products. It appears to have blue water inside the box which is outlined in such a way that reads "ST" for "StormTrap". The image has clear edges and shadows, is easy to understand, and utilizes a nice color scheme.
To redesign StormTrap's logo, I began by experimenting with MS Designer. As this was my first time using the program, I simply typed "StormTrap" to indicate the kind of image I would like generated. I imagined MS Designer would understand I was referring to the company, and that it would create images similar to StormTrap's current logo. However, it came up with many different options, mostly images of storms and dark color schemes. An example is below which depicts a storm, simple shape artwork, and "StormTrap" written cross the bottom.
I thought it was interesting how the program took the word "storm" and utilized storm images as opposed to images from the company itself. I tried a few more methods to create a more realistic logo for StormTrap. This included experimenting with and tweaking phrases like "a logo for a storm water company" and "grey storm blue water." I also tried adding images to the search to see what the program would generate.
This is certainly a helpful tool for creating images that could perhaps be used for StormTrap's website. While I was happy to investigate this platform, I did not find it helpful for creating a StormTrap logo as I had in mind. Therefore, I decided to investigate a different tool called
logomaster.ai. This program was simple to use as I followed a series of steps including selecting the entity type (personal, business, etc.), color scheme, company information, and icons. From there, many logos were generated that I could select from and edit further if necessary. I chose the image below as StormTrap's redesigned logo.
This tool was certainly helpful and did a great job at creating an effective logo design. While similar to StormTrap's current box logo, it is a much simplier design. This is important as there seems to be a trend nowadays for company's to have simple logos as opposed to complex ones. I also like the color scheme and emphasis of "trap" in the name.
Overall, it was interesting to investiage these AI tools. There are certainly many ways they can be used, and it was nice to be able to compare them. These are just a few of the many helpful AI tools available to use for a wide range of projects.
